About This Spot
Stepping into Sushi S Japanese Restaurant, tucked along bustling Willingdon Avenue, you find a calm oasis that feels both sincere and unpretentious. It welcomes you with a quiet warmth, where the gentle hum of soft conversation blends with the comforting clink of tea cups — a space designed for lingering moments rather than rushing ones. There’s a subtle rhythm here, neither hurried nor too slow, inviting you to settle in and appreciate the simple joy of good company and thoughtful food.

You’re met with prompt hospitality that never feels rehearsed but is clearly rooted in care, from the steady refills of tea to friendly suggestions that guide your choices without pressure. At Sushi S, the menu feels like a well-curated narrative of Japanese flavors, balanced and approachable. There’s an unspoken invitation to explore the layers of familiar favorites alongside creative touches, where each bite carries the unmistakable freshness of thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Innovative rolls like the Volcano and Geisha blend harmony and curiosity, while classics such as the Aburi Wild Salmon Oshi or Tonkatsu offer comforting, rich textures that speak of tradition and care.
This is not a place to rush—savoring the delicate balance of flavors becomes a shared experience between kitchen and table, matched by the soft pace of a neighborhood spot that feels like a local secret. Whether indulging in the light, crisp tempura or the soothing flavors of a well-made donburi, the journey here is as much about the quiet moments of enjoyment as it is about the food itself.
Visitors often leave with a feeling of having found a reliable and heartfelt spot that understands the joy in everyday dining. The environment fosters a subtle but sincere connection — to the food, to the people serving it, and to the simple happiness of a meal well made and warmly shared.

Best sushi in North America. You feel the time goes so fast when you enjoy the moment. Sushi disappeared less than 10 minutes! Thank you so much for the authentic sushi - very fresh!

The service was extremely friendly. Like genuinely very happy with how welcoming everyone was. Thank you for the meal and recommendations. They were on break for lunch but still accepted our dine in.

Came here after Willingdon Church since it’s across the street. It looked kind of empty and inside so I didn't have high expectations, but the food was actually really good! The sushi rolls we got were Alaska, red, and munch roll. To my surprise, the Alaska roll was my favourite! We also got a beef udon soup that was really delicious and bigger than I expected. We'll definitely come back regularly.

It has been a long time since I visited this place but a couple days ago my brothers and I decided to give it a go. It did not disappoint. First of all, the service, we made a reservation so we arrive on time and were sitted in the front booth away from the crowd and kitchen which is nice. The waitress is extremely nice as she kept refilling our tea over the course of the dinner. Next the food, we ordered their signature volcano roll and torantula roll, prawn and yam tempora, and my favorite spicy salmon sashimi. All are delicious and a special shout out to the tempora which came piping hot, crispy, and not greasy. Be aware of the volcano and tarantula roll as they have cream cheese in it so can be very filling. As to value, the four of us paid $25 each including tax and tip. Highly recommended for anyone to try as they have unusual dishes other than the run of the mill varieties.

Decent food, good atmosphere and good staff. Servers were polite and were moving pretty fast to clean up the space as soon as a table got empty. Food took a while to reach our table but was decent, although I found sushi rice to be undercooked and hard. Prices are reasonable for the quality they serve.
